VOLUME 25: Call for Literary Art
Thank you for your interest in our Twenty-Fifth (25th) volume of The Salal Review, Lower Columbia College's award-winning literary and visual arts magazine. Each piece you submit will be reviewed anonymously by our student editors enrolled in Arts Magazine Publication to enable an unbiased review process. The finished volume will be presented in print and web form and unveiled at our launch party event in Spring 2025. To view previous volumes and updates, visit www.salalreview.com.
Submissions are accepted from anyone with a connection to the Lower Columbia region (students, staff, faculty, and community members of all ages). We ask that submitters include a brief biographical statement (one to four sentences) that describes their connection to the region.

  • Literary Art is accepted through October 31. Submit up to five poems and two prose pieces: may include short fiction, short creative non-fiction, or graphic narratives (comics). Though we do not have a word count limit, shorter works are preferred.

Each piece is judged individually, so if you are submitting more than one piece for consideration, complete a new submission for each.  In other words, please do not submit multiple poems or stories in one document file attachment. Instead, submit each in a separate file attachment.

Questions may be directed to the editorial staff at salal@lowercolumbia.edu.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
