VOLUME 26: Call for Podcasts & Performances

Thank you for your interest in our Twenty-Sixth (26th) volume of The Salal Review, Lower Columbia College’s award-winning literary and visual arts magazine. We are proud to announce the expansion of our publication this year by inviting submissions for podcasts and performances (music, theater, dance, videography, animation, etc.). Podcast episodes should focus on topics of creativity and the arts, inspiring our listeners to create and/or celebrate literary, visual, or performance art. Remember, your submission is a representation of yourself and your community! You may focus on these topics in general or ground conversations in discussion of The Salal Review specifically, including history, previous volumes, or previously published pieces. All forms of performance art suitable for web publishing will be considered, but audio submissions are preferred at this time.

  • Podcasts: Up to three pieces may be submitted. Please aim for no longer than 20 minutes per submission. Please send quality audio (.mp3) or video files (.avi, .mp4, .mov, .wmv)
  • Performances: Up to three pieces may be submitted. Please aim for no longer than 10 minutes. Please submit quality audio (.mp3) or video files (.avi, .mp4, .mov, .wmv).

Submissions are accepted from anyone with a connection to the Lower Columbia region (students, staff, and community members of all ages); please include a brief biographical statement (one to four sentences) that describes your connection to the region. Each piece is judged individually, so if you are submitting more than one piece for consideration, complete a new submission for each.

While we maintain an anonymous review process, podcasts and performances tend to reveal the identities of the creators. That said, we will minimize identification otherwise and work diligently to review each submission through critical and compassionate editorial practices. Our selection committee will, as always, be made up of student editors enrolled in Arts Magazine Publication. The selected works will be published online and unveiled alongside our print magazine at the launch party in June 2026. To view previous volumes and updates, visit www.salalreview.com. As always, The Salal Review strives to publish a variety of pieces that exemplify the talents of our campus and the broader community.

SUBMISSIONS DUE April 30, 2026.  Questions may be directed to the editorial staff at salal@lowercolumbia.edu.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
